SARAH SAMPLE TO LEAD ARDEN – CHRISTOS YOUTH SOCCER PROGRAM
LOCAL SOCCER PRODUCT TAPPED TO DELIVER ELITE TRAINING FOR RECREATIONAL AND CLUB PLAYERS
CROWNSVILLE, Md. - March 25, 2019 - Arden – Christos FC announces Sarah Sample as the Director of Operations for Youth Programs. Following a Cinderella title run for the Open Cup in 2017 and holding 6 National Championship titles, Christos F.C. joined forces in 2018 with Arden Recreation in Crownsville, Maryland to build out affordable club and recreational level programs for youth players and teams.
Larry Sancomb, long-time head coach and member of Christos F.C. says, “We’ve always been very community oriented and achieved a great deal by working hard and taking care of the people around us. We’re a family and we have a vision of being able to translate our success in to a youth program that provides wider access to the highest level for all players, not just the ones who can afford it.” On Sample, he continues, “We’re bringing Sarah on board to carry out our vision. Not only does she have a reputation in the area as an elite player and coach with a great network, she also brings the administrative and organizational expertise to make this program the best it can be.”
Working alongside the Arden Recreation team, Sample is tasked with carrying out the partnership between Arden Recreation and Christos F.C. Programs will include clinics, training and educational support for both players and volunteer coaches on the recreational side and administering the club level program for county players looking to take the next step. “I’m excited to get this off the ground. It’s a unique approach that is long overdue,” Sample says. “I’ve been on this journey in our area both as a player and coach. This is my home and I’ve seen year after year players getting priced out at the club and college level. The door to getting better, getting scouted, getting a college scholarship can be shut very abruptly. We want to close this gap for players that get left behind in the conventional system. Ultimately whether your kid enjoys kicking around with their friends or wants to play at the college and professional level, there’s a place for everyone to thrive.”

ABOUT SARAH SAMPLE
An Annapolis native, Sample has been coaching soccer for 13 years at the collegiate and club level with UMBC Women's Soccer, ECNL member Bethesda Soccer Club and Arlington Soccer Association including coaching 3 US Youth National Team players and numerous players that have gone on to Division 1 college play. Sample’s playing career spanned 23 years. She competed in club for the Bethesda Dragons winning 5 State Cup Championships, 2 Regional Championships and placing 3rd in the National Championship. Individually Sarah was selected for 8 ODP State teams (including one year as a keeper), 5 ODP Regional teams, 3 US National Team pools and the U-19 Women’s National Team alongside Heather O’Reilly and Meghan Rapinoe. She won 4 High School Championships, 3 at St. Mary’s High School and a 4th at Severna Park High School. Post season selections saw awards as a McDonald’s All-American, 3 All-Met selections and 4 All-State, All-County, All-South and All-League spots, with multiple MVP, Best Utility and team captain nods. She received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Maryland and went on to play for DC United Women, now the Washington Spirit, and internationally with the national contending Ottawa Fury.
